Athens Utilities Billing
Moving into a new home or apartment can be both exciting and overwhelming. The City of Athens Utilities Billing Office is an important place to begin making that transition a good experience.
For rental properties, Utilities Billing mails combined utility bills for water, sewer, sanitation, and recycling services to customers each month; these are mailed to “Water Customer”. You do not need to contact us before moving in.
For new home owners, you will need to stop in to the Utilities Billing office and fill out a Change Of Ownership Form which will allow us to update our system with your new billing information.
Once you get moved in... you might need a place to park, and Utilities Billing can help you with that as well. Our office sells parking permits for the Athens Fair Ground, Reserved spots in the City Parking Garage, Smart Cards that replace quarters in the City Parking Garage, spaces in the parking lot on College Street, and Motorcycle parking spaces.
Current Utilities Rates:
Water:
0-1000 Gallons - $9.23, each additional 1000 gallons $2.89.
Sewer:
0-1000 gallons $11.25, Each additional 1000 Gallons; residential $3.54, commercial $4.01 , industrial $4.42
Garbage:
One 30-gallon container per week - $6.50/month; two 30-gallon containers per week - $12.00/month;three 30-gallon containers per week - $14.00/month
Recycling Support Fee:
$2.50 per month each unit. If you would like to purchase a replacement for your recycling bin, they are available at our office for $7.65.
Parking Rates:
Athens County Fair Grounds Parking $65.00 per quarter
Motorcycle Parking Permit $12 per year
Smart Cards, unlimited amount. These cards are swiped on the parking meters in the City Garage.
Spaces on College Street lot $85 per month
Reserved Parking Garage Spaces $85 per month (not currently available)
