    Starting August 26, in 8 week sessions, students in grades K-5 will experience arts instruction in a variety of disciplines. Students can be registered for one or more classes(days) per week.   5. Fearless: Women's Journeys to Self-Empowerment

    A spoken word event. In seeking a way to provide women a platform on which to be heard, and inspired by the #MeToo movement, editor Cat Pleska, for Mountain State Press, collected essays, stories, and poems from 30 women throughout Appalachia. Each wrote about her most challenging moment and how she learned to not just endure, but also to prevail. Curated by Athens Poet Laureate Kari Gunter-Seymour, this event will include readings from the book as well as an open mic for other "fearless" poems. Donations for Arts West the night of the readings will be appreciated. Light refreshments will be served.
