Mission Statement: The mission of the Athens Community Arts, Parks and Recreation Department is to provide Athens and area residents with comprehensive programs, activities, and facilities that encourage health, fitness, cultural, recreational, educational, and social opportunities in our community.

As a regional center of excellence, we are the premier facilitator of recreational and health programs providing activities and facilities that improve the quality of life of area residents. Through collaboration with our advisory committee, city leadership, and an extensive network of civic-minded partners and organizations, we strive to include all people as participants and volunteers in our diverse offerings.
Overview:
The department offers more than 500 diverse recreation and leisure opportunities for all ages and interests such as: athletics, childcare, sport camps, arts and crafts, aquatics, community events, dance, and wellness and general interest. Our youth and adult athletic programs are an excellent opportunity for the novice to learn a new sport or the highly skilled player to be challenged in one of our many leagues. Our state licensed childcare has won awards for its unique blend of fun and educational offerings. Also, we offer preschool classes covering areas such as education, body movement, arts/crafts and many special programs throughout the year. The Athens City Pool offers the Red Cross "Learn to Swim Program" and offers both day and evening classes throughout the summer months. We provide excellent health and wellness programs throughout the year. All of our aerobics instructors are certified and use all of the latest ideas in fitness training. The United Seniors of Athens County also resides in the Athens Community Center.The Athens Community, Arts Parks and Recreation Department brochures are published quarterly and list upcoming programs, classes and special events. It is through the brochure section of our web site that you can retrieve specific information regarding your interest. This section will change frequently so check back often.
Birthday Parties
Would you like to have a hassle free birthday party? Then we have the answer for you. Rental includesthe Arts & Crafts Room, kitchenette, climbing wall, and outdoor playground.
Available for all ages on Saturdays and Sundays for 2 hour time slots from 12p-6p. Fee is $40.00
Rental Facilities
The Athens Community Center has rooms for all occasions. Select from seven different rooms for business meetings, banquets, wedding receptions, and other special events. A catering kitchen is available with many amenities for the heating and cooling of food. Select your set-up with round or rectangular tables. All set-ups will be completed by our staff; all you have to do is decorate. Also available are media applications for your business meetings. Please call for details concerning availability, rates, and set-up options.
