The Athens City-County Health Department is offering essential services only.
In order to respond effectively to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Athens City-County Health Department will be limiting services to essential services until further notice. The health department will continue to conduct animal bite investigations, facilitate the food program, and provide immunizations, birth and death records, and tuberculosis testing. We apologize for the temporary change in services. Thank you for your patience as we shift our focus to the current outbreak.
If you need to visit the health department, please call ahead and make an appointment at 740-592-4431. The Athens City-County Health Department does not test for the COVID-19 virus. If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms and are preparing to see a doctor, call your physician’s office, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving for care. Let them know that you believe you are experiencing symptoms related to the COVID-19 virus. Your doctor can determine if you need to be tested. Even if you are unable to be tested, you can limit your contact with others and stay home if you have respiratory symptoms, cough, or fever.
