ITTY BITTY PRINT EXCHANGE: ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE
On the winter solstice of December 2020, cooped up during the pandemic in Athens Ohio, Ohio University MFA Printmaking student Fiona Avocado was thinking about what they wanted for their birthday at the end of February. Fiona wanted a collection of tiny prints, and decided to make that a reality by organizing the Itty Bitty Print Exchange (the name Tiny Print Exchange already existed, the name “itty bitty” came from looking up “tiny” in the thesaurus.)
The exchange was posted to Instagram as an open call in January 2021. What was unexpected was the overwhelming and broad interest in participating. This exchange consists of seventy-seven artists from five countries. The artists in the exchange created prints utilizing a wide range of analog print media—screenprinting, relief printing, intaglio, lithography, letterpress, risograph, printing on glass, and more. What’s beautiful about this exchange is not only its vastness, but also the varying imagery and perspective in response to the prompt “Another World Is Possible.”
The Itty Bitty Print Exchange is a traveling show, so none of the pieces in the show are for sale. However, if there is a piece that you are drawn to, the websites and/or Instagram handles of all of the artists are listed.
You can follow the Itty Bitty Print Exchange at instagram.com/ittybittyprintexchange.
The show will be on display from January 4th - 28th in the Arts West gallery.
